Every now and then you’re tasked with a project that is a highlight to make. We were asked to make a traditional blanket chest. Instead of using pine for the case, we recommended a hardwood alternative. I had stockpiled some beautiful curly cherry for just the right project,... and this was it. We used traditional dovetail construction for the case with a frame and panel lid. We then lined the interior with quarter inch aromatic cedar. We finished it with four coats of hard wax oil which brought out the beautiful grain of the curly cherry. I can’t wait for the next blanket chest request,… I’m hoarding some beautiful curly walnut!
